This position is located at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, FL. The incumbent Maintenance Worker primarily serves as the Facility Maintenance Worker and reports to the Cemetery Director on facility maintenance issues.
This announcement is a solicitation for applications from current NCA employees. Maintenance Worker accomplishes a full range of facility/equipment maintenance trades. Repairs and maintains physical structures and a full array of gas and diesel powered equipment and utilities using hand and power tools. Assists with plumbing tasks. Serves as irrigation systems repair and preventative maintenance person. Performs routine minor maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems. Incumbent will act as a Contracting Office Representative (COR) for projects or contracts at the Bay Pines National Cemetery and will also use the Government Purchase Card to make purchases for supplies and materials.
Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.

Physical Requirements: Work may require continual movement and the frequent carrying of heavy items in excess of 40 to 50 pounds. The work also involves prolonged standing, bending, stooping, climbing and operation of motor vehicles.
Working Conditions: Work is conducted both in and outdoors here the incumbent can be exposed to high temperatures, rain, dust, cold, wind, noise and other hard environmental factors. Incumbent must be able to use full range of upper and lower extremities. May occasionally work in dusty, dirty, cramped quarters, or poorly lighted and ventilated areas such as crawl spaces, which may be wet and muddy. In addition, works on cat walks and ladders. Incumbent may be exposed to occupational injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruises, while working with or testing equipment in performance of duties.
