You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist or Attorney Advisor for the Small Business Administration (SBA), Office of Disaster Assistance (ODA). The ODA provides disaster loans to homeowners, renters and businesses seeking funds for repair, rehabilitation or replacement of disaster damaged personal, real or business property. In your position, you will perform functions related to closing and disbursing disaster loans for disaster survivors.

As a Paralegal Specialist, some of your typical work assignment may include:
Mandatory Overtime is Required: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated hours up to seven days a week and twelve to fourteen hours a day may be required.
A security clearance is not required; however, selectees will be subject to a background check and must have a credit score of at least 500.
Paralegal Specialist
GS-09: Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university or two full years (36 semester hours or equivalent) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field.
GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited college or university or three full years (54 semester hours or equivalent) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field.
OR
Graduate level education and work experience may also be combined to qualify for this position.
Attorney Advisor
In addition to possessing attorney experience, applicants must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
Applicant must currently be a member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
