    This appointment is not-to-exceed one (1) year, and may be extended in increments not-to-exceed 1 year or less for up to 8 years in total, as long as the student remains eligible for the program.  Upon, successful completion of the internship program, students MAY be non-competitively converted to a term or permanent position; however conversion eligibility is not an entitlement of the Student Internship Program.

    Salary listed in this announcement is a basic rate of pay.  Locality pay will be determined based on the duty location of the position.  Work schedules are both part time and full time. 

    PLEASE NOTE:  These positions will be filled at the GS-3 GS-4, or GS-5 levels.  There is no promotion potential beyond the grade level for which you might be selected.

    Major Duties:

    • Receives on-the-job training and experience in the application of basic statistical survey methods and techniques.
    • Participates with higher-graded statisticians in the analysis of the summarized survey data and analytical comments.
    • Conducts preliminary examination of survey forms, questionnaires, listings and tabulations for legibility and reasonableness.
    • Participates in the development, implementation and execution of automated data processing projects.
