This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Operations Division, Technology and Innovation (T&I). This organization is responsible for for performing Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)-related activities that include planning, coordinating and executing the Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) program and all internal and external audits and inspections; continuous monitoring; risks assessments; management of plans of actions and milestones; privacy impact assessments; security training; and general security life-cycle support for all CFPB information technology systems. The incumbent operates under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer. The incumbent requires access to classified systems and responds to classified information and associated tasks; thus will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

The major duties of this position include:
- Providing specialized support to network/system/cloud security architecture components and performs assessments to identify cybersecurity-specific risks.
- Reviews security configuration of information systems to protect them from unauthorized use, infection, and other problems.
- Present and justify findings and recommendations to CFPB leadership.
Specialized Experience for CN-53: To qualify at CN-53, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade/band (CN-52, GS-12 or equivalent) in the Federal service. This experience need not have been in the federal government. For this position specialized experience is defined as:
- experience in IT security, as it relates to IT defense strategies and the protection of IT infrastructure;AND
- experience in industry and government information security methods, standards, practices, and technologies to prevent system vulnerabilities and mitigate risk; AND
- experience in information data security developing technical security configurations based on policies/guidelines (e.g., NIST SP, DISA STIG); AND
- experience analyzing and defining security requirements for applications, systems, databases and networks; AND
- experience managing cybersecurity projects to develop solutions to meet requirements.

In addition to the specialized experience stated above, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
