    Summary

    The NASA Pathways Intern Program provides students with the opportunity to explore NASA careers and gain meaningful developmental work experience. This is an internship position as part of a work/study program. The work involves trainee duties at various organizations throughout Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida.

    This position is for students that have been accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma) in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis.

    The following major(s) are preferred: Communications or Broadcasting.

    Students may be placed in KSC organizations such as the Communication and Public Engagement (PX) organization.

    Students who may work full time while attending school are desirable.

    These positions are in the excepted service and are being filled under the Pathway's Internship Program. Appointments may be non-competitively converted from the Pathways Program to a term or permanent position in the competitive service provided that all educational requirements for that position are met and there is an available position. However, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed. If converted participants would have the promotion potential up to a GS-12.

    Responsibilities

    This position is part of the NASA Pathways Intern Employment Program (IEP) which is a formal training program. Participants completes assigned duties, tasks, readings, and developmental activities specified in the Program. Participants receive formal periodic assessments of progress. You may be required to perform rotational assignments in various organizations.

    The participant will assist and perform basic Public Affairs duties including; assisting in planning, preparing and conducting press and guest events for major projects and special events such as Open House, launches and career days.
