These positions are Full-Time temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for George Washington Memorial Parkway is October - March, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: December 1, 2017.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds unassisted, following proper lifting procedure to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working. Will bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Operates motor vehicles and equipment in or near fast moving traffic, in extreme heat and inclement weather, and in darkness for snow removal and other emergencies. Works outside and is exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors, from extremes of cold, heat, and humidity. May be exposed to dust, dirt, wind, rain, sleet, and snow. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to insect and animal bites and stings, plant toxins. Required to wear appropriate safety equipment as specified by the supervisor and the NPS maintenance uniform. Must have and maintain a valid state or District of Columbia driver's license, and a valid CDL Class B or above.
