This position is located in the Security Services Bureau, Physical Security Division, Project Planning Section. The Physical Security Division is responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of security systems throughout the Capitol Complex used to safeguard Members of Congress, staff, visitors, property, and national security information of the Legislative Branch. The Project Planning Section (PPS) conducts long-term planning and coordination of the installation of physical security systems on the Capitol Complex and other facilities under USCP jurisdiction. The incumbent of this position understands the design and installation engineering specifications for physical and electronic security systems.

At the full performance level of CP-12, the duties includes:
Manages a physical and electronic security installation program for facilities under USCP jurisdiction. Sets project priorities, determines resources available, and ensures projects are consistent with overall program objectives.
Supervises and leads employees in designing protective electronic systems. Ensures that employees participate fully in developing security policies, and in designing, developing, evaluating and installing long-term, large-scale electronic security systems for the Capitol Complex.
Determines the most effective and efficient facility security systems needed and procures the systems for use in such areas as CCTV cameras, access control, and alarms.
Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on the installation contract. Provides required information throughout the procurement process, submitting and tracking work orders, invoices, and expenditures.
