The Judicial Conference Secretariat (JCS) plays a vital role in supporting the Judicial Conference and its committees in their work of making national administrative policy for the United States Courts. Headed by the Judicial Conference Secretariat Officer, JCS is responsible for providing staff services to the Conference and its Executive Committee, including professional and administrative support of the Conference's biannual sessions and more-frequent Executive Committee meetings, and for coordinating other AO staff who support the work of other Conference committees. JCS activities are highly visible to numerous senior officials of the Federal Judiciary and high-level staff in the AO. Among other things, the office is responsible for addressing inquiries from judges and others regarding policies and actions of the Judicial Conference and its committees, and for providing procedural guidance and advice. This position will assist in preparing agenda materials for the Executive Committee, contribute to the guidance and support provided by the office to committee staffers, and help with logistical and other administrative arrangements for Conference sessions and Executive Committee meetings. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Applicants must possess a law degree (J.D.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education.
