This is a mid-level developmental position leading to the full performance Position Description, Printing Services Assistant, GS-1603-07, PD 674380. At this level, the incumbent continues to consult with the supervisor. Classroom and on the job training are designed to provide experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles and techniques of the full performance level.
At the full performance level, the incumbent manages, operates, maintains and supports the Office of Adjudication and Review;s (ODAR's) Copy Center providing assistance and technical work in support of printing operations and the provision of printing and duplicating services.
Manages and maintains the electronic library of publications and documents which includes scanning and converting documents into various electronic formats.
Receives and reviews printing and duplicating requests for correct authorization, proper specification, quality of material to be reproduced or printed from original disk, and for conformance to published government printing and duplicating regulations, policies and guidelines.
Operates a personal computer or computer workstation to receive and convert data (text and graphics) into formats suitable for production runs on an electronic duplicating system. Utilizes network software to capture and/or merge data/information originated with a wide variety of work processing, graphics, and desktop publishing software packages.
Applicants will be rated using a 100-point scale and evaluated according to the following criteria:

LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.

The work requires long periods of standing, frequent bending, stooping and walking during equipment setup, adjustment, operation and maintenance. The incumbent lifts, on a recurring basis, light to moderately heavy objects (under 50 pounds) such as boxes of paper, chemicals, and other equipment supplies.
The work is performed in a copier/duplicating production center. Moderate risks and/or discomforts occur from paper dust, machine noise, dry ink, glue, etc. Extra safety precautions are required when cleaning jams from the finishing unit and fuse (to avoid burns from extremely hot surfaces).
