About the Position:
This position is for a staff Research Investigator position in the Scientific and Clinical Studies Section (hereafter, the Research Section), Audiology and Speech Pathology Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. This position is for a mid-level Hearing, Speech-Language Pathology, or Cognitive Scientist and leading subject matter expert within NCR-MD. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with other research staff and clinic providers to develop, initiate, and oversee a research program designed to (a) support the hearing, speech, or cognitive capabilities of Department of Defense personnel, and/or (b) make scientific advances to the understanding of hearing, speech or cognitive disorders encountered in the military and clinical populations, and/or c) improve the clinical management of patients.
Prefer Post-Doctoral experience.

As a Research Investigator you will initiate and direct basic and applied clinically-relevant research studies. Prepare research grant applications/protocols and written reports of completed projects. Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to apply, advanced scientific methods in the design and execution of creative and innovative research. Provide consultation and technical support to other research staff members concerning experimental design, research methodology, computer applications, statistical analysis, and scientific writing. Prepare experimental materials for use in approved protocols as required. Recruit and enroll appropriate number and type of subjects based upon research protocol, following all applicable guidelines governing research on human subjects. Review grant applications, protocols, research manuscripts, and other technical documents prepared by other research staff members within the Research Section. Provide technical advice on issues in hearing, speech, and cognitive science. Provide consultation to clinical staff regarding assessment and management of patients with hearing, speech, and cognitive disorders.
