    About the Position:
    U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command's (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC) is one of the most comprehensive software support centers within the Department of Defense. SEC provides much of the DoD's software expertise needed to support command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), as well as logistics, business and enterprise systems in the modern digital environment. With a mission to provide life-cycle software solutions that enable warfighting superiority and information dominance across the enterprise, SEC supports the warfighter from the business office to the battlefield.

    You will serve as an Information Technology Specialist (Application Software) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. In this developmental position you will have many opportunities to learn and gain experience through formal and on-the-job training which will acquaint you with the policies, methods and techniques particular to a position characterized by knowledge and skill requirement of a IT Specialist (APPSW). Assignments are progressively difficult and are designed to prepare the incumbent for more difficult and responsible work at the intermediate and ultimately the journeyman level.


    These positions are bring filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC § 1705 (g).

    Applicants will be selected at GS-07. The target grade of this position is GS-12

    Responsibilities

    As a developmental IT Specialist (APPSW), you will assist in performing duties such as:

    • Performing hands on integration and testing of software with target hardware in the loop and for interfacing with various disciplines including system engineering, software engineering and configuration management staff and groups
    • Supporting planning and test efforts for new/existing software releases received from the Software Engineering team and final software build prior to deployment to operational sites
    • Updating and maintain scripts to address business and technical use cases
    • Providing analysis and information regarding assigned systems for configuration control boards and other resource management planning meetings
