    About the Position:
    U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command's (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC) is one of the most comprehensive software support centers within the Department of Defense. SEC provides much of the DoD's software expertise needed to support command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), as well as logistics, business and enterprise systems in the modern digital environment. With a mission to provide life-cycle software solutions that enable warfighting superiority and information dominance across the enterprise, SEC supports the warfighter from the business office to the battlefield.

    You will serve as an Computer Engineer or Computer Scientist at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. In this developmental position you will have many opportunities to learn and gain experience through formal and on-the-job training which will acquaint you with the policies, methods and techniques particular to a position characterized by knowledge and skill requirement of a Computer Engineer or Computer Scientist . Assignments are progressively difficult and are designed to prepare the incumbent for more difficult and responsible work at the intermediate and ultimately the journeyman level.

    These positions are bring filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC § 1705 (g).

    Applicants will be selected at GS-07. The target grade of this position is GS-12

    Responsibilities

    As a developmental Computer Scientist or Computer Engineer, you will assist in performing duties such as:

    • Designing, developing and testing of software.
    • Developing new or maintain current software systems.
    • Evaluating software systems and determine the need for hardware/software upgrades.
    • Identifying and determining the criticality of software/firmware and hardware problems associated with data collection systems
    • Designing and creating software solutions based on evolving projects.
    • Provide technical advice on problem areas in your assigned field of specialization
