This position is located in Facilities Management Division (AFM), Operations Department of the National Gallery of Art. The purpose of this position is the installation, modification, repairing, inspecting, troubleshooting, testing, loading and, maintaining of building electrical components, circuits, associated fixtures, controls, equipment and systems.

Incumbent works from building plans, construction blueprints, electrical wiring and ladder diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals. Receives written work orders, oral instructions and wiring diagrams indicating the nature of work to be performed from the electrical work leader or electric shop supervisor.
Responsible for the planning, layout, routing and placement for electrical components, equipment, and circuits, which include the determination of conductor type (insulation) and size (gauge), size of electrical device (i.e.: contractor, magnetic starter, relay, fuse, breaker, disconnect switch, etc.), balancing the electrical load after installation or modification, maintaining continuity and safe operation of all electrical lines, circuits and systems.
