In this position you would serve as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist stationed at the Midwest Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Bloomington, MN with primary responsibilities of managing and directing the Regional Fish and Wildlife Program. You will provide technical leadership, field program reviews, and coordination, both internally and externally, with other organizations. Be responsible for ensuring that all fish and wildlife activities that subject to broad nation-wide policy controls are carried out through the Region's Agency Superintendents and line officers in charge of three additional administrative units.
Travel, transportation and relocation expenses are authorized as described in the Federal Travel Regulations and Departmental policy.

Following are the major, though not all inclusive, duties of this position:
Serves as the Midwest Regional Office expert advisor and technical leader on all area fish and wildlife programs, and as such is responsible for the development, and management of long and short range area program goals and objectives (including budgetary development/oversight, and resource/personnel management).
Interprets and assures Regional, Tribe, Band and Tribal organizations compliance with Bureau goals, objectives and policy for the fish and wildlife program handed down through management plans, policies, regulations, and directives.

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 0401 JOB SERIES
As a basic requirement, in order to qualify for the 0401 job series, applicants must have successfully completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Alternatively, applicants can meet these basic qualifications by combining education as described above plus appropriate experience or additional education. Proof required - you must submit college transcripts.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AT THE GS-13 GRADE LEVEL:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the next lower level (GS-12) in the Federal service. This experience is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience may include: Serving as a technical expert on natural resource management issues to protect trust resources; Implementing recognized natural resource conservation methodologies and approaches for creative and effective analysis, negotiations, and coordination; Leadership role in preparing or advising on natural resources regulations and guidance; protecting sensitive habitats; ensuring that activities related to fisheries, wildlife, outdoor recreation, public use, or conservation enforcement are conducted in accordance with applicable laws; Preparing, reviewing, evaluating and implementing fish and wildlife conservation plans and reports; Identifying and make recommendations on issues related to trust natural resources; Preparing and managing budget; and Developing and maintaining effective working relationships and liaison in and outside the agency. Assignments were planned and carried out independently, coordinating work with others, resolving conflicts that arose, and interpreting and applying program policy in terms of established objectives.
