This is a Centrally Managed position in the Communications & Information Career Field
·The primary purpose of this position is: Serves as Air Staff level expert and technical adviser for satellite communications systems plans, policies and satellite terminal synchronization.
·Plans, develops, and directs methods, procedures and
policies governing Joint and Air Force wide decisions on satellite
communications (SATCOM) and information technology systems.
·Serves as a Senior IT Specialist and technical
expert at the Secretary of the Air Force/Air Staff level on satellite
communications and information technology systems.
·Supports branch and division chiefs on a wide-range of subjects impacting the organization by drafting and implementing detailed direction, documentation, and presentations as required by the organization and Air Force senior leaders.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. The employee may be required to work overtime.
2. The employee may be required to travel on commercial and military aircraft.
3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
4. This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. THIS POSITION HAS BOTH BASIC QUALIFICATION AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCES:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
OR
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For this position individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Ability to develop and maintain effective, productive relationships with peers, associates, and senior leaders across the Air Force, DoD, Federal Agencies, and contractor personnel.
