As a Medical Officer your duties may include but are not limited to:

Degree:
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre-medical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).]
Qualifications:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Examples of qualifying experience include: participating with scientific program staff and individual investigators and collaborative groups in the development of clinical trials, including designs, protocols, and procedures; leading in the planning, organization and scientific direction of pediatric clinical research including the conceptualization of new research directions and clinical research projects; and using innovative solutions to overcome difficulties to ensure progress toward goals and integrating and coordinating the efforts of others in the organization.

Physicians Comparability Allowance of up to $30,000 per annum may be paid based on the selected physicians assignment, qualifications, experience, and duration of a negotiated service agreement.
