As a trainee, performs duties in various specialized areas of nutrition for the purpose of developing knowledge and skills in the profession. Receives instruction in various specialized areas of nutrition principles and practices; provides support to higher level nutritionists by working on assignments in the administration of nutrition assistance programs, and agency operating procedures; receives formal and on-the job instruction and training designed to familiarize the employee with the functions and operations of the organization, and to provide experience in the practical application of nutrition concepts, principles and techniques.
• Must be 16 years of age
• Must be in good academic standing as defined by the educational institution.
• Complete at least 640 hrs of work experience prior to completion of degree.
• Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution.
• A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-05 level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
