Physical Demands: Much of the work requires intense concentration and conceptual abilities. The incumbent frequently participates in lengthy and intensive negotiations or fact-finding sessions that require above-average resistance to physical, mental, psychological and emotional fatigue. The work is largely sedentary, although there are occasional field trips that involve physical activity in irregular terrain and varied climatic conditions.
Work Environment: The work is usually performed in an office or meeting setting. The BLM Eastern States covers 31 states of jurisdiction with a Congressional base include 274 Congressional Districts. BLM ES manages approximately 39 million acres of Federal mineral ownership and 10,000 surface acres through eight program areas: energy and mineral resources, general land office records, cadastral survey, lands and realty, wild horse and burro, wildland fire, national conservation lands and natural resources.
