    DON Pathways Internship Program

    The selectee for this position will serve as a Pathways Student Trainee Position (Electrical, WG-2801-02) located in the following locations: Norfolk VA; Oceana VA; Little Creek VA; Newport RI and Philadelphia PA within NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. This is a developmental position with promotion potential to WG-10. The purpose of this position is to develop the skills to perform journeyman-level duties of the electrician trade and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the full performance level of the target trade through a formal Apprenticeship. This is a full-time four year apprentice program. The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment.

    Local Commuting Areas include: Norfolk VA; Oceana VA; Little Creek VA; Newport RI; Philadelphia PA

    The salary range for the positions filled in Virginia/Rhode Island is $13.63 per hour to $15.91 per hour.
    The salary range for the positions filled in Philadelphia PA is $17.22 per hour to $20.08 per hour.

    Responsibilities

    The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

    • Taking instruction and direction from higher graded employees.
    • Assisting Electricians and/or Electrical Workers with tasks at various job sites.
    • Using tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters and strippers, soldering irons, and a variety of test equipment including phase rotation indicators, field test units, and ammeters.
