    This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0097000and is part of the AZ 162nd Wing, Air National Guard.

    Note: Current 162 WG Maintenance Group members who hold the 2A6X4 career field will be placed in a military position commensurate with current rank. All other applicants outside of the career field who apply at a higher grade then advertised will be demoted.
    Note: This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.

    Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent if funding becomes available and position

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

    Responsibilities

    AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-8268-10. This position is located at 162d Wing, Tucson, Arizona in the Aircraft Fuels Systems Repair Shop and is responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft fuel tanks and cells, and in-flight refueling systems. Performs fuel leak evaluation, classification and repair including organic sealant removal, aircraft surface preparation and application of organic sealing compounds. Performs inspections, functional checks and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, calendar and special inspections. Performs unscheduled maintenance to include troubleshooting fuel system malfunctions, determining the extent and type of repair, and performing the necessary repairs to include the removal, installation, adjustment and operational checks of various fuel system components such as fuel lines, valves, pumps, and switches on assigned aircraft utilizing various test equipment. Maintains emergency power unit (EPU) to include emergency response actions, recovery of EPU after system activation and servicing and maintenance of hydrazine fuel tanks. May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention. Completes all required documentation to include IMDS entries, aircraft and equipment maintenance forms and historical data. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Prepares for, supports and participates in all applicable inspections and exercises. Performs additional shop duties as assigned. Subject to rotating shift potential, providing coverage on off duty weekends, and supporting unit temporary duty assignments.
