The GVMP operates veterinary treatment facilities (VTFs) on most military installations for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. Your work will be dedicated to pet health within the military community and in support of the United States Army Medical Command. Animal Health is an integral part of the Army's public health mission and touches the lives of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel, military members, and their families.
GVMP employees work closely with both Military Veterinary Medical Officers and civilian Veterinarians to provide quality healthcare to privately owned animals and deliver the highest level of customer service while adhering to federal and state guidelines and regulations. This position is located at Andersen Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic.Work schedule required will be three to five days per week, 0830-1630, with potential half-days. Occasional work at additional areas other than main duty station to include Naval Base Guam VTF on a part-time/limited basis. No Federal Holiday work is required.
The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is within the commuting area of Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. The local commuting area is defined as a radius of 50 miles; in addition to, you are considered eligible if one of the following applies: you live outside of this radius and are able to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis or you are able to relocate yourself on your own expenses (must be able to be present for work within 2 weeks of selection).

Performs professional veterinary work that involves the investigation, examination, treatment, and control of animals. Diagnoses animal health problems; vaccinates against diseases, such as distemper and rabies; medicates animals suffering from infections or illnesses; treats and dresses wounds, seat fractures; performs surgery; and advise owners about animal feeding, behavior, and breeding. Issues health certificates. Performs and interprets laboratory findings. Maintains health records and prepares reports as necessary. Includes other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:

Best Qualified Criteria:
Possess or has the ability to obtain/renew a United States Department of Agriculture/ Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS) accreditation. (If currently not in possession, must be able to obtain within first 60-days of employment.)
