Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD), Cancer Imaging Program (CIP), In the Diagnostic Imaging Branch (DIB). The CIP is responsible for the planning, evaluation, and coordination of extramural NCI research related to oncology imaging. The ideal candidate for DIB will be board certified in a relevant specialty (radiology or nuclear medicine), and have experience in clinical trials with familiarity in diagnostic use and/or development of imaging methods, regulatory requirements for clinical imaging biomarker development (validation and performance) and in the science of prognostic and predictive biomarkers medical imaging (oncology), and the grant process, and regulations for imaging drugs and devices. The medical specialty areas for CIP are: Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

As a Medical Officer (Clinical) you will:
Enhance response to therapy by employing the most appropriate imaging evaluations; develop and validate new imaging methods and technologies.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre-medical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).]
Licensure Requirement - You must have an active, current medical license as a physician in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
To Qualify at the GS-15 Grade Level:
In order to qualify at the GS-15 level, the applicant must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-14). Examples of Specialized experience include: providing specialized medical expertise in clinical research; assisting in developing research programs, which enhanced research goals and objectives of an organization; collaborating with other organizations and outside researchers in a variety of clinically-related projects; analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting scientific and clinical data in order to prepare papers for publications in peer-reviewed journals; presenting medical findings at seminars and scientific meetings; designing, conducting, or directing clinical investigations or trials; providing direct patient care or developing organization policies about patient care; providing recommendation for the established, revised, or re-evaluated goals and objectives of the research programs; develops policies and plans to strengthening the program areas which impact national and/or international research activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
