About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, with the Director for Nursing, Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Bethesda, MD. Prolonged periods of walking and standing are required, as well as the ability to lift, bend, and stoop, i.e., in helping patients before and after surgery. Work is performed in a hospital where exposure to contagious and infectious disease is common.

As a Pediatric Clinical Nurse, you will provide specialized nursing services with complex systems and/or disease processes to patients on an pediatric intensive care unit at a medical treatment facility. Initiates a high level of response to emergency situations; to include formulating the approach, methodology, interpretation and evaluation. Observes, monitors and assesses patients' conditions. Organizes and monitors interventions when necessary. Solves problems on own initiative, in alignment with the Professional Standards of Practice. Collaborates with Licensed Independent Providers and other professional healthcare providers to make changes to patient care plans and develops comprehensive strategies to improve patient care services. Operates and monitors highly complex, technical and specialized medical-surgical equipment. Establishes criteria and evaluates/assesses the effectiveness of patient treatment outcomes.
