The selectee is a member of the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service Line of Veterans Integrated Services Network 7 (VISN 7). The selectee will be responsible for, but not limited to, performing the following duties:
· Provides customer service by assisting Purchasing Agents in processing of prosthetic requests and prescriptions for items, services, and durable medical equipment from physicians, therapists, medical center personnel, patients or their representatives
· Interviews veterans reporting to the service and receives phone calls from beneficiaries
· Advises the patient, family member or other representative on equipment safety and maintenance
· Receives and reviews prosthetic requests for completeness
· Examines clinical health records folders to determine legal eligibility and medical entitlement for prosthetic items and services based on adopted criteria and advises veteran of the same
· Operates the PSAS software package to maintain a detailed and accurate accounting of all actions taken for veterans and documents their records showing items or services provided
· Assists in the collection of data and preparation of reports generated by the Prosthetic Software package
· Reviews reports and researches errors or conflicting information in procurement documentation
· Provides support for the word processing, typing, proofreading, copying, and filing contract documents in contract files and distribution of reports and various correspondence
· Issues items from stock and initiates purchase orders to replenish stock items when needed
· Assists with archiving procurement files, packaging, marking, labeling, and transfer of records and procurement files to archives/record retention center and assists with retrieval of files from archives for analysis and research or data requests
· Serves as Purchase Cardholder to procure supplies or services under the Micro Purchase threshold
· Serves as primary timekeeper for PSAS - responsible for properly entering time, on a daily basis, into the timekeeper's module in VISTA

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-5 Specialized Experience: Must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience at this level include, but are not limited to: Experience making and authorizing purchases on behalf of the government, a company or organization; Experience examining records and files and determining eligibility and entitlement for services; Knowledge of medical terminology; Knowledge of budgeting control point maintenance and skills in accounting procedures including basic math skills necessary to maintain accurate funding, billing and budget account balances; Skill in the use of a variety of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software and programs.
