About the Position:
Develops to completion civil engineering designs for proposed construction of civil works projects to be used for inclusion in survey reports, design memoranda, and/or contract plans.Learn more about this agency
Who May Apply: US Citizens
Make design calculations, and develop plans and specifications for supporting Great Lakes civil engineering features including navigation locks and dams; flood protection projects; retention reservoirs; shoreline protection revetments; sheet pile installations; concrete structures; navigation structures; dredging and dredge disposal activities; river restoration projects; and hydroelectric power plants. Checks final contract plans and specifications before submission to supervisor.
Uses both spreadsheet and word processing computer software to assist in the preparation of designs, memoranda and report preparation.
Perform civil engineering work in preparing construction cost estimates in coordination with the senior cost estimator.
Prepares budget and preliminary cost estimates from sketches and preliminary layouts and functional requirements provided by using service for the purpose of determining approximate cost of contemplated construction or alteration.
Develop Scopes of Work for contract performance.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
