These positions are being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. Positions are temporary with mixed work schedules based on student's schedule and the needs of the agency. Work may be part-time or full-time.
This is an Excepted Service, temporary appointment not-to-exceed one year. This appointment may be extended each your without further competition, as long as the incumbent continues to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program and funding is available. Your internship and employment with us will be terminated either upon completion of your education program or failure to comply with Pathways requirements.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
- Presents limited and repetitive pre-established talks, and tours including introductions to films, map talks, and static exhibit interpretation.
- Orients visitors to the park.
- Staffs information desk at the visitor center serving as the initial contact for visitors
- Provides information on a variety of subjects and interprets park values for visitors with varying interests and backgrounds.
- Provides visitors with information on park related activities, services, and park themes.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Area Information: The duty station of the position is at Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites which is located in the beautiful and historic Hudson River Valley. Hyde Park is in Dutchess County, about 70 miles south of Albany, NY, and 100 miles north of New York City. The area is suburban with both rural and urban areas nearby. The Catskill Mountains, Shawangunk Mountains, Mohonk Mountain, House, U. S. Military Academy at West Point, and other historic and recreational areas are easy day trips from Hyde Park. Housing cost and rentals are considered high. Government housing may be available.
