Summary
The Family Physician position at Camp Pendleton, California is located in the Family Medicine Department, Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, California. You will be a core faculty member and work collaboratively within a team of 12 other Family Medicine faculty physicians. We proudly serve the military population in our area. Our clinic population is primarily composed of family members of active duty Marines and Sailors. We also have a large number of retirees from all services.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Providing a full range of family practice services, e.g. examining, diagnosing and treating patients from birth to death;
- Documenting patient history using electronic medical records;
- Performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies, prescribing medications and performing patient education;
- Promoting preventative and health maintenance care including annual physicals and positive health care behaviors through education and counseling;
- Providing clinical practice oversight by reviewing medical care and clinically related processes and policies;
- Exercise leadership, administrative, and managerial guidance to military, civilian and contract personnel within the family medicine department.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited school in the United States or Canada; or possess a medical degree from a foreign medical school and have a permanent certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or fifth pathway certificate;
AND
have an active, valid, and unrestricted physician license to practice medicine awarded by any State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also have at least 5 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Family Medicine. Your resume must reflect you have a sufficient level of expertise in Family Medicine to perform the core privileges of this position at the GP-15 Level. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Provide a full range of family practice services by examining patients, determining diagnosis and developing treatment plans for patients from birth to death; providing guidance to residents, RNs, and contract staff.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Failure to document the current certification in your resume or application documents will result in an ineligible rating.

The salary on this announcement is based on a full time work schedule. Pay rates will be pro-rated commensurate the number of hours worked.
Work requires extensive walking, standing, stretching, lifting, transporting and bending in caring for patients; the ability to influence confused patients regarding their care, and physically control or defend against emotionally ill or confused patients. Work is performed in a health care setting where there is exposure to contagious disease, radiation, infection. Gloves, gowns and masks are frequently necessary.
