This position is located in the High Desert District, Rock Springs, WY Field Office. The Rock Springs Field Office manages over 3.6 million acres of public land surface and 3.5 million acres of public subsurface minerals in the southwestern part of Wyoming. The Field Office administers a variety of programs including mineral exploration and development, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, wild horses, livestock grazing, and historic trails. Physical Demands: Work is performed primarily in the office with field work requiring physical exertion associated with solid leasable minerals field activities. Field Work and Inspections require walking and driving a 4X4 vehicle over rough terrain in remote areas under widely adverse conditions.
Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office setting with occasional field work. Field work may include walking or driving over rough terrain in all types of weather conditions. Field work will occur in active mines, both underground and surface.

This position focuses on leasable minerals, primarily coal and trona. The engineer has responsibility for engineering evaluation of coal and sodium leasing and other actions related to coal and trona development activities. Engineer also manages federal coal leases and other solid minerals leases. Duties are divided between pre-lease and post leasing activities. This position has operational responsibilities as well as program development for the solid mineral resources.
This position has a positive education requirement. You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades. In addition to meeting the education requirement, applicants may qualify for this position based on experience, Graduate level education or a combination of experience and education. Education must be directly related to the work of the position.
