As a Architect, you will perform the following duties:
You qualify for this position at the GS-12 level (starting salary $79,720.00) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level, that demonstrates interpreting and/or applying the
natural hazard (seismic, wind, flood) provisions of building codes.
You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $94,796) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 level, that demonstrates interpreting, applying
and developing the natural hazard (seismic, wind, flood) provisions of building codes.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings.
Note: This is a scientific & professional occupation: There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 or GS-13 level. The specialized experience requirement must be met.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Degree: architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
