The selectee for this position will serve as a FIREFIGHTER in the Navy Fire and Emergency Services at Commander, Naval Region Hawaii of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII, assigned to a crew engaged in airfield, shipboard and structural firefighting and rescue operations and assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards.
A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

This is a firefighter position. This position is a Primary Firefighter position and is covered under Special Firefighter Retirement. Title 5 U.S.C. 3307 authorizes the head of an agency to establish a maximum entry age for the original appointment of individuals to the position of primary firefighter. For initial appointments, applicants cannot have reached their 37th birthday by date of appointment. An applicant reentering into a Primary Firefighter position may have the maximum entry age adjusted based on prior covered Firefighter federal service. Applicants who are entitled to veteran's preference may be eligible for a waiver to the maximum entry age requirement. -Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
-Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operations; (3) detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; (4) operation of fire communications equipment; (5) controlling hazardous materials incidents and/or (6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.

Have completed 2 full years above high school at an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or other RELATED fields.
OR
Have a combination of specialized experience and undergraduate -level education as described, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement.
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-04: Firefighter I and II and Airport Firefighter. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications you will be rated ineligible.

Your resume must demonstrate at least SIX months of general experience work or military service that has demonstrated the ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures that otherwise demonstrates the ability to perform or learn to perform teh duties of the position.
