The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position within the Division of Dam Safety and Inspections of the Office of Energy Projects. The position is located in the Chicago Regional Office. The Branch Chief will ensure that all programmatic responsibilities of the Regional Office are effectively accomplished. In so doing, the incumbent will work as a team with other Branch Chiefs and OEP staff to support the Commission's and OEP's mission and program objectives. The incumbent will oversee the inspection, engineering evaluation and analysis of non-federal hydroelectric projects including dams to insure the safety of the projects and compliance with the terms of the license, the provisions of the Federal Power Act, FERC regulations and current engineering dam safety criteria and guidelines. Assignments may require substantial travel and can involve hiking in mountainous terrain, climbing steeply inclined faces of dams, and descending into dam galleries, penstocks, and tunnels.
This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.

The following are the major duties of this position and include:
- Leads staff and carries out management responsibilities.
- Ensures all programmatic responsibilities of the Branch are effectively accomplished.
- Reviews team work products and assists teams in in preparing research, reports, recommendations, orders, and other decisions for Commission consideration.
