The National Gallery of Art serves the United States in a national role by preserving, collecting, exhibiting, and fostering the understanding of works of art at the highest possible museum and scholarly standards. Gallery activities are funded, in part, through an ongoing fundraising campaign, which is led and carried out by a high-performing development team. This position is responsible for eliciting major philanthropic gifts from the private sector to meet the priority needs of the Gallery as identified by the Director and the Board of Trustees. The incumbent reports to the Chief Development Officer.

The incumbent:

Physical Requirements: The majority of this work is done at a computer station during normal office hours. moderate physical mobility is required, which includes walking, lifting, stretching, stooping, and standing. The incumbent frequently walks to other offices in the National Gallery's East and West Buildings, carrying papers, books and files. The incumbent must be able to lift books, files, and boxes weighing up to twenty pounds.
