MAJOR DUTIES: (Detailed duties are on the Position Description available at the Human Resources Office)
This position is located in the Electronics Branch of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA), or Theatre Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG). Its purpose is to perform work involved in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining the complete electronic integrated systems on Army National Guard helicopters..
Performs operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems: Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS), the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the Improved Countermeasure Dispenser System (ICMD), the Night Vision Goggle System (NVG), the Air Data Subsystem, the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) and Doppler/GPS Navigation System (DGNS), Command Instrument Set (CIS) ; a logic subsystem-- the Multiplex Data Bus System (MUX), the Multiplex Remote Terminal Units (MRTU), Data Link Terminal Units (DLTU), and Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS); and actuating subsystems--, and the Digital Automatic Stabilization System (DASS), which includes the Stability Augmentation System (SAS) and Command Augmentation System (CAS) and Hover Augmentation System (HAS).
Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units (LRU). Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Solves problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Removes faulty LRUs for shop repair. Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignments in accordance with existing technical manuals and directives. Accomplishes technical manual compliance and modification of components and systems and completes systems checkout for proper operation. Maintains, modifies, calibrates and inspects a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Uses a variety of test equipment such as automatic test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, DTA computer, multi-meters, power-meters, and special purpose bench test sets. Tests and troubleshoots solid state electronic assemblies and subassemblies such as circuit cards, modules, rate gyros, electronic control amplifiers, electro-mechanical assemblies, random access memories, programmable read-only memories and various integrated circuits. Identifies faulty parts and repairs to level authorized. Ensures and certifies operational integrity of various night vision systems, and electro-optical components. Reassembles unit after repair, performs alignment and makes shop checks.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Within your application package, you must explain how you gained the specialized experience required for this position. Applicants applying at the WG 12 level must have 18 months experience in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Work involved in rebuilding, overhauling, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning and maintaining integrated electronic systems. Analyzes and evaluates complete system operation using a variety of general and specific test equipment, self-test and self-calibration computer programs and/or technical data containing schematic diagrams, signal flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, test procedures, program information and mathematical formulas. Accomplishes checks, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment and analyzing of electronic integrated systems. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data and maintenance procedures.
Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
