This position is located in the General Accounting Office (TGA), which is headed by the Comptroller of the National Gallery of Art. TGA is responsible for record ing all Gallery financial transactions and maintaining accurate books of record. TGA maintains accounting records for Federal appropriations and Private funds. The position is responsi ble for maintaining the general ledgers and other accounting records used to prepare timely and accurate internal management reports as well as external reports to such government agencies as Treasury, OMB, GAO, IRS, and OPM. These reports reflect the results of operations and financial position of the National Gallery of Art for both funding sources, Federal and Private. TGA manages all daily accounting activities: inflows and outflows of cash including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, banking activities, payroll, and expense reimbursement.
The position is a managerial accounting position responsible for all Accounts Payable (A/P) and retail system activity at the Gallery, including invoice entry, payments, account analysis, monthly reconciliations, General Ledger (G/L) postings and cash room management. The incumbent manages a small staff.
