We are currently seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator position. VA BHHCS is a multi-campus health care system, with approximately 1100 employees, providing primary care, acute medicine, surgery, behavioral health, nursing home and domiciliary care from medical centers located at Fort Meade and Hot Springs, South Dakota as well as a staffed Community Based Outreach Clinic in Rapid City and numerous contracted and staffed clinics in Western South Dakota, Northern Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming.

Incumbent spends a majority of their time overseeing the linen distribution section of the Textile Care facility. Incumbent prepares and loads carts of clean linen for delivery to wards, clinics and other using areas. Carts are loaded according to established linen quotas using linen distribution software as a guide. Reviews linen quotas against changing user needs and keeps the Environmental Care Specialist informed of such changes. Incumbent assists with annual linen and uniform inventories. Incumbent handles all special telephone requests for additional linen and maintains computer records of all such requests. Incumbent informs the Fort Meade Laundry Plant of linen requirements for the upcoming week on a regular basis. Incumbent will sort and hang uniforms in alphabetical order for all station issued uniforms, and deliver to the designated areas. Incumbent will perform linen production as required such as folding various linen items delivered from Fort Meade in carts. Incumbent will inventory daily linen storage rooms utilizing the linen distribution automated software system in designated areas of the hospital and download the results. Incumbent will track gains and losses of uniforms and linen items on the computerized tracking software. Incumbent will participate and perform inventories of all uniforms and linen items as necessary. Incumbent will be responsible for producing identification tags utilizing computer software and a commercial heat and compressed air name tag machine. The duties above are regular and recurring.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent will be required to sit or stand for extended periods performing continuous repetitive movement with the arms and hands when sewing, marking, hanging, folding, making signs, working on computer and completing forms. Incumbent will be required to push and pull carts weighing up to 350 pounds throughout the Medical Facility and Dom. Incumbent will be required to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee works mostly outside, is exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts and bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Operates vehicle in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Employee will drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612.
