ARMY TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a GS-05/06/07 position that is located at the G2 Intelligence Directorate in Jefferson Barracks, MO United States 1 vacancy

Incumbent will be assigned to Position Description Number D1113000 in SPMD 1213

APPOINTMENT FACTORS:  This position is a Temporary vacancy NTE 30 September 2017 in the Excepted Service. Employment can be terminated at any time. This position can be filled up to four years as long as funds are available to support it. This is a non-bargaining unit position.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED:  This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible assignment in the Missouri Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member in the Missouri Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Missouri Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: ENLISTED

Since the position is temporary in nature, the compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year.  Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion.

Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade – SGM (E-9)

Minimum Military Grade – SGT (E-5)

IMPORTANT NOTES: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances are not authorized for this position. Required Security Clearance is Noncritical Sensitive.

Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.

Must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the temporary appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.  Under a temporary appointment, the employment is subject to termination at any time.

Duties

Receives, reviews, and submits requests for personnel clearances for serviced civilian and military personnel. Checks the request for completeness and accuracy and contacts the Security Manager, Supervisor, points of contact at the serviced units, and/or the individual subject of the background/clearance investigation for any questions or corrections that are required. Returns those forms requiring further documentation or correction. Screens local personnel, as well as local police and finance records for disclosed and undisclosed derogatory information, which may have an impact on the career of the subject under investigation. Questions the subject for clarification on responses that are considered derogatory. Forwards completed form to the appropriate agency for investigation and clearance determination. Maintains contact with the agency conducting the investigation as well as the requesting unit in order to keep all apprised of the process or to provide notification of any developing situations. Acts as the primary point of contact regarding the status of all pending clearances, current security clearance status, or questions on security clearance procedures. Provides input to the supervisor or serviced units, based on regulatory requirements, on possible courses of action as a result of the investigative agency's questions on security issues or the denial of a clearance as a result of the investigation. Provides information to the unit serviced or the subject of the investigation as to the appeals process if the investigating agency denies the security clearance. Maintains a file for status of pending investigations, current status of all members, as well as periodic reinvestigations for secret and top secret clearances held. Checks with the agency performing the investigation for an update on the status of the security clearance in question. Notifies the units of individuals requiring reinvestigation and resubmission of documentation. Provides reports, as required, for status on pending or current investigations or periodic reinvestigations. Performs other duties as assigned.
