The incumbent:
Oversees and manages the National Gallery of Art's Building Automation System (BAS). The Gallery's BAS is built on the Tridium Niagara Framework with over 100 Java Application Control Engine microprocessor controllers in service.
Performs technical review of design drawings and specifications involving the installation of new direct digital control systems, in conjunction with the master facility plan. Updates and maintains the master BAS specification documents used to define system requirements for outside contractors and in-house designers making modifications to BAS connected equipment. Provides technical guidance to the Office of Architecture and Engineering (AAE) during the construction phase of projects.
Works directly with Gallery IT staff to define networking requirements for BAS connected hardware. Uses Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Visual Basic, JavaScript and other programming applications to design and develop customized software applications to provide enhanced reporting of data collected by the BAS.
Plans, schedules, and assigns work. Adjusts staffing levels and work procedures to accommodate the budget and changing Gallery priorities. Plans and establishes work schedules, deadlines, and standards for acceptable work.
Determines frequency of contract services for the maintenance of the BAS. Prepares required contract documentation for the procurement of these services. Acts as the COR during the construction phase of contracts.
