MAJOR DUTIES: Prepares surfaces (i.e. metal, wood, and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e. retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives). Reads and interprets directions that relate to mixture, use, and applications of various kinds of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents. Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions.

Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months of experience in the following:

SKILL to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, putty, prep surfaces and select appropriate tools to complete assigned tasks.
SKILL to brush on, roll on, and spray coating materials.
SKILL to apply other related methods and techniques.
ABILITY to interpret and follow technical orders, specifications and publications.
