Mission:
The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona is a level 1a complexity facility providing Radiology subspecialty services, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services to Veterans across southern Arizona. The Radiology Service Line provides services including: General Radiology, Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Breast Imaging, and DEXA.
Duties:
The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System is seeking an interventional radiologist. Interventional Radiology (IR)duties include a wide range of inpatient and outpatient vascular and interventional radiology procedures including angiography, vascular interventions, biopsies, drainages, oncologic interventions, biliary interventions, nephrostomy tube placement, venous access and gastrostomy tube placement. Duties will also include interpretation of MRI, CT, US and plain films. Experience with body CT and MRI interpretation is desirable. Other responsibilities include: resident and technologist education; review of pre-procedure labs and protocolling of radiology studies; participation in peer review process; quality management activities such as peer review, study/film quality; participation in SAVAHCS committees such as the multidisciplinary tumor board.
The Radiology department performs approximately 120,000 examinations per year and has 14 full and 1 part time physician faculty members and IR two nurse practitioners. Four University of Arizona Radiology residents are present at the SAVAHCS at all times. We currently have 2 Siemens MRI units (1.5T and 3 T), 2 Siemens CT scanners (64 slice and 256 slice dual-energy); two Siemens IR suites, Siemens PET/CT, 2 SPECT-CT, 1 gamma camera and 5 US units. Current PACS is VistaRad, with planned migration to commercial PACS. Voice recognition is Powerscribe 360. We are in the process of acquiring a third MRI scanner. SAVAHCS provides a fully-integrated electronic medical records system, fully digital Radiology Department, and active multidisciplinary collaboration with other departments. The successful candidate must be eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level at University of Arizona.
Preferred Experience:
1. Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with subspecialty expertise in Interventional Radiology.
2. Experience with body CT and MRI interpretation.
3. Currently possess BLS/ACLS or able to obtain.
Duty Hours: Monday-Friday 0800-1630 hrs. IR call is approximately 1 week out of every 3-4 weeks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to physically and mentally perform the duties in an outpatient setting under normal and emergent conditions. Heavy lifting 45 lbs and over with assistive devices, heavy carrying of 45 lbs and over with assistive devices; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers, both hands required, walking or standing up to 6 hours per day; repeated bending up to 2-4 hours per day; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination; near vision correctable; hearing aid permitted.
Basic Requirements:
1. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
2. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
3. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
4. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
