The selectee for this position serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Network Services) for an 18-month unaccompanied or 24-month accompanied tour in Manama, Bahrain.

The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week).

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commuting area of the duty location for this position. Commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference.
Military spouses and family members who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member.
Evaluating through research and testing the compatibility and interoperability of currently installed and planned installations of IT systems onboard afloat units.
- Identifying system failures or problems through analysis of audit trails and log files.
- Providing guidance on current automated information systems security developments as they relate to hardware, systems software, telecommunications, and systems design and development techniques.
- Solving diverse problems of onboard computer systems with minimal oversight.
50% or less - Travel is dependent upon position description and availability of funding.
