NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:
This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
REMARKS: This position is being advertised as an indefinite appointment and applicant selected may be released at any time, and advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled. In the event a permanent employee is accepted for this indefinite position, there will be a change in their tenure from permanent to indefinite. Indefinite appointments may be made permanent at a later date without competition.
This position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Army National Guard (ARNG) Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Operations G3/5/7 Directorate.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS : Excepted Service Male/Female Officers (Not to Exceed 04/MAJ)
WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Officers (Not to Exceed 04/MAJ) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Officers (Not to Exceed 04/MAJ), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
MILITARY CRITERIA: Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows: O: BR: 01A
MILITARY ASSIGNMENT : Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement. Must be able to hold and obtain an SECRET Security Clearance
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the evaluation of the overall training programs for the State. Develops short and long term training plans that support the commander's training guidance. Assists with the development of annual operational and training budget requirements. Recommends sub-allocations of funding for subordinate organizations in accordance with annual funding allowance and established priorities. Evaluates organizational readiness reports and prepares recommendations for improvement/modification to organizational training programs. Analyzes proposed changes and determines effects on organizational readiness and the ability of organizations to accomplish assigned missions. Provides technical guidance and assistance to subordinate units in the development of deployment and redeployment plans for use in responding to local/state/national emergencies, homeland security missions, and anti-terrorism/force protection. Directs scheduling and coordination for the use of training sites and facilities. Ensures coordination with logistical personnel for the availability of required equipment and supplies for training activities. Develops Risk Management plans and programs for the command. Analyzes trends within the command and makes recommendations for changes to policies and activities to minimize risks of training activities and increase individual safety awareness.
