Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Certifies assigned systems and sub-systems to ensure compliance with USAF and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) established standards and safety requirements. Ensures systems are operating at peak efficiency with minimum interruptions by performing analysis, periodic testing, and corrective procedures. Acts as expert technical consultant to determine whether systems are operationally acceptable and safe within prescribed standards for air traffic and navigation. Develops and administers a system of internal audits, evaluations, and checklists designed to ensure conformance with squadron
mission. Conducts, analyzes, and documents technical and personnel evaluations. Conducts, analyzes and documents special evaluations. Establishes internal reporting and status tracking procedures. Performs duties as Technical Order Distribution Officer (TODO). Oversees the Team Chief Development Program. Provides C4I engineering services to DoD, MAJCOM, NGB and base level customers. Performs technical design and engineering work for complete telecommunication systems, downward directed programs/systems, one-of-a-kind systems, routine upgrades, and system enhancements. Interprets and applies appropriate technical and policy guidance for each assigned project. Produces C4I installation project packages. Coordinates project requirements with affected Communication and Information Systems Officer (CSO) to ensure system inter-operability, compatibility, and cost effectiveness of the proposed technical solution. Ensures proposed requirement(s) conform to current policies, standards, and guidelines. Develops detailed design specifications. Identifies source of major equipment items and necessary logistical lead-time required. Reviews assigned projects for environmental considerations. Ensures required studies and tests such as electro-magnetic compatibility, electro-magnetic radiation hazards, TEMPEST, are performed and included in final C4I project package. Conducts on-site engineering surveys to gather specific project information. Prepares sketches, drawings, and lists of material. Determines and coordinates project support requirements with installation or base officials. Develops Project Support Agreements, Statements of Intent, and Statements of Work as required. Provides engineering process continuity for multiple specializations within the EIS. Conducts on-site engineering assistance visits as required. Resolves problems or questions during installation phase of engineered projects. Monitors and analyzes project milestones to ensure timely completion within budgetary constraints and reports results to supervisor. Advises drill status supervisors in matters relating to the planning of function workload and training requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized Experience: GS-11 requires 36 months experience, education or training with knowledge of basic standard engineering principles, methods and practices. Experience reading and interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications. Experience planning, scheduling and supervising; exercising initiative and sound judgment. Experience using a variety of inspection techniques and practices to determine compliance with plans and specifications. Experience communicating both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

Remarks: No PCS available. Position will not be filled until current incumbent vacates. Members with rank higher than identified in 'key requirements' are eligible to apply but, may be required to take a reduction should they be selected. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Normal color vision and normal depth perception as defined in AFI 48-123 is required. This position is subject to rules and regulations of the USAF and the ANG, to include fitness standards, as well as any AFSC specific requirements. Knowledge of C4I systems engineering process and package development is highly desirable. This is a dual status position. Sensitivity Level 2.
Selective Placement Factor: ENLISTED (TSgt/E-6 to SMSgt/E-8)
