This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH), State Area Office. PIH’s mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD’s Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities. The State Area Office provides performance oversight, compliance assurance, technical assistance, coordination, and program implementation for Public Housing Authorities(PHAs).
As a Director, you will:
-Provide administrative and technical supervision of assigned staff including; evaluating subordinate supervisors; hearing and resolving group grievances; reviewing and approving disciplinary actions; managing travel, staff and equipment resources; providing training for staff; and ensuring that the agency's Affirmative Action Plan is met.
-Ensure the efficient deployment of limited HUD resources and funding by conducting long and short term planning. Evaluate Field Office operations to improve the effectiveness of the organization and to adjust to changing conditions.
-Communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with the Secretary's Representative, Coordinator, and other program managers on Public Housing and Section 8 programs, policy and technical issues.
