The DeCA operates a worldwide commissary system that provides quality grocery products at cost to active duty military personnel and retirees, members of the Reserve and National Guard, and their families. The agency employs about 18,000 people and its annual sales exceed $6 billion.

Identify and handle salvage items, mis-picks, and out-of-date items.
Reconcile data, such as invoices, against reports or statements.
Operate hand-held terminals to input, edit, retrieve, and update daily inventory levels and ordering requirements.
Work with vendors to activate new items and deactivate deleted items from inventory.
Operate a computer terminal to maintain the Computer Assisted Operating system with accurate data to ensure that optimal order quantities are calculated.
