This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.


REMARKS: This position is being advertised as an indefinite appointment and applicant selected may be released at any time. In the event a permanent employee is accepted for this indefinite position, there will be a change in their tenure from permanent to indefinite. Indefinite appointments may be made permanent at a late date without competition. Individual will be advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled.


This position is located in an Air National Guard Wing Flying unit and serves as an Aircraft Logistics Officer. The purpose of this position is to plan, schedule, control and direct the use of logistics resources to meet mission requirements. Through subordinate supervisors, directs and supervise aircraft modification, overhaul, and repair programs that affect highly complex single· or multi-engine military aircraft.

GROUP I
- All qualified Male/Female Commissioned Officer (Rank of 04/Maj) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program. 

GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Commissioned Officer (Rank of 04/Maj) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.  

GROUP III – Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Air National Guard at the rank of Commissioned Officer  (04/Maj)

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT :  This position is supervised by a Maj/04.  Grade inversion will not be authorized.   Compatible AFSC:  21A3. Must be able to hold and obtain an SECRET Security Clearance.

Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Manages and administers aircraft logistics activities within Aircraft Generation Division and Maintenance Division (Component Repair Division and Equipment Maintenance Division, if applicable). Plans, develops, and publishes aircraft logistics policies and procedures within the general framework, as established by higher echelons of command. Manages the overall maintenance and related support act1vities to assure timely, effective and complete logistical support of base, group, wing, state, National Guard Bureau and Air Force mission requirements. Supervises and directs the preparation of budget estimates; financial plans; studies of the aircraft logistics organization; manning requirements; facility requirements; mobility or contingency requirements; and publications related to maintenance, methods, policies and procedures. Coordinates logistics activities with supervisors, various base activities, and higher echelons of logistics such as Air Force Depot Weapons Systems Managers, NGB, Major Command Staff, etc. Administers a sound aircraft logistics personnel management program to assure that personnel in staff, supervisory, and technical positions are highly qualified and motivated. Administers a rigid safety and security program within the aircraft logistics organization. Serves as a technical advisor to accident investigation boards; and may be assigned as a member of an accident investigation board. Participates in engineering studies and analysis of proposed modifications related to aircraft, aircraft engines, accessories, systems, and associated aerospace ground equipment. machinery, and tools. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and QAFA inspections and/or mobility and command support exercises. May serve as a member of a team coping with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
