This is a temporary student internship opportunity under the Pathways Program. Performs a variety of recurring technical work in support of water operations and water measurement investigations. Follows instructions and established procedures to measure water quality and quantity; install, service, and monitor water quality measuring devices and hydrologic data collection instruments. Downloads data from electronic data logging equipment, maintains files and databases and prepares reports. Performs standard calculations, and assists with field analyses and related quality assurance activities. Accompanies higher-grade technicians in performing Dam Tender responsibilities. Under direction, collects uplift pressure and drainage readings and water station readings.
Performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of water operations, biological resources, and related activities. Gathers and compiles field data and requested data from established sources (e.g., files, reports); enters data into a computer database and summarizes it in tabular, graphic, statistical or narrative form for professional staff; files and copies documents; and similar tasks. Uses computer software to update electronic files, generate standard reports, prepare maps (water quality parameters, habitat delineations, or species locations), prepare spreadsheets and assist in preparing presentations or briefings.
Serves as a member of a crew conducting routine water quality tests to determine physical and chemical characteristics of water as it relates to fish life history requirements for physical habitat. Records and reports data collected. Cleans, maintains and stores field equipment such as boats, motors, sampling devices, analytical instruments and safety equipment.
Students who are accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, including eligible veterans meeting this criteria.
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- be at least 16 years of age or older;
- be in good academic standing as defined by the school they are attending; and
- be a student who has been accepted for enrollment for next semester and must maintain at least a half-time course load as defined by your educational institution while serving in this position OR be a student who is currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, or graduate or professional school.
Interns must continue to meet program eligibility requirements throughout the duration of the appointment.

Relocation: Travel and relocation expenses are not authorized and are the responsibility of the selectee.
Telework: Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

-This is a temporary position with a not-to-exceed date. When the not-to-exceed date is reached or whenever services are no longer needed, the selectee will be terminated from Federal service. Position may be extended depending on management's need, providing student program requirements continue to be met.
