The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is recruiting for a Full Time Physiatrist.

As the Associate Chief of Staff of for Education (ACOS/E), you will serve as the VA Liaison to the Graduate Medical Education Council of the affiliated institution. Facilitate appointment of Veteran's Affairs staff and appropriate affiliate institution program faculty to the Academic Partnership Council. Review and sign appropriate residency training program letters of agreement prepared by the affiliated institutions. Chair the Graduate Medical Education Committee (Residency Review Committee) and report quarterly to the Clinical Executive Board on the safety and quality of patient care provided to trainees. Present an annual report to the Medical staff and the Medical Director that summarizes training program activities for the past year. This annual report should cover such issues as resident duty hours, resident credentials, and resident graduated levels of responsibilities. Act as the principal liaison with sponsoring institutions' designated institutional officials (DIO) and education leaders in the academic programs. Assure the student and residents rotating to ICVAHCS are sponsored by affiliated institutions and that affiliation agreements are in place. Ensure ALL trainees are appointed properly with completed applications, appropriate documentation, and appropriate security screening. Provide orientation or assurance that necessary aspects of orientation are covered at the service level, including privacy training, computer security training, and Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS) Training. Review and assure that minimal qualifications and credentials are met for trainees.
