The Miami VA Healthcare System is seeking a full-time vascular surgeon in the Operative Care/Surgical Service at the Miami VA Healthcare System. The incumbent is expected to have extensive experience in performing open and endovascular procedures, and have experience reading vascular lab studies. Duties for this position will include teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. A strong commitment to academic pursuits and clinical or basic research is required; the incumbent's duties will be divided evenly between clinical work and research. Dedicated research time and support to obtain VA grants will be provided. Successful candidates must have credentials to qualify for faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery of the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. The successful candidate must qualify for a full-time VA appointment and, as a minimum, a faculty appointment at the Clinical Assistant Professor level with the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
Work Schedule: Mondays thru Fridays - 8:00am to 4:30pm, with on-call after hours and also week-end on-call coverage.
Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion including periods of walking, standing, regular and recurring bending, stooping, lifting heavy objects such as assisting patients on and off operating tables.
Board Certified in General and Vascular Surgery
Extensive Experience in performing open and endovascular procedures
Extensive Research experience with a field of interest compatible with the Veteran Affairs mission
Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
