This position manages the nursing services in the Emergency and Fast Track departments. Incumbent plans, develops, implements, evaluates and supervises the program. This position is supervised by the Chief Nurse Executive Officer or designee.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: Degree or diploma from a professional RN nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Must submit copy of transcript. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.
AND
Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must submit copy of Nursing license that includes expiration date.
In addition to the above you must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for the position:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-12: One year of experience as a Nurse Manager of an Emergency Department (ED) with full responsibility for policy development, scheduling, recruitment of staff, interviewing and hiring staff, initiating and rating of performance appraisals, and rendering disciplinary actions. The experience includes compiling, analyzing, and reporting ED throughput measures (known as benchmarks, key performance indicators, or metrics).
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: This is a supervisory/managerial position and candidates, in addition to the qualification requirements described above, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have the potential to develop, the qualities of successful management, as required for the position.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: In addition to the qualification requirements for the OPM and IHS Excepted Service Qualifications described above, to be rated basically qualified for this position, candidates must possess current, valid, active, unrestricted professional nursing license as a professional nurse from any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. New graduates must also possess this licensure as indicated with no grace period allowed.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: MPP candidates must have completed at least one year of service at GS-11 for the GS-12.Time-in-grade provisions do not apply under ESEP.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
