Oversees the administrative management of the reception area of a CYS Program. Receives children, youth, parents, and other visitors in a courteous manner. Answers main telephone, ascertain nature of call and direct caller to appropriate staff takes a message or personally provides desired information. Utilizes Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) to oversee the collection, accurate accounting and reporting of funds; and to collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reporting purposes IAW higher headquarters and statutory requirements.
Provides administrative support including typing/word processing, mail preparation, copying, distribution, telephone calls, and travel orders for CYS personnel. Initiates Civilian Personnel actions and helps track background clearance checks. Assists in maintaining leave records, and time and attendance records.
Conditions of Employment

3. Successful completion of training requirements and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
Progressively responsible administrative duties. Skill in operating a manual or electric typewriter and current automation system and software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel) required. Must be able to type 40 wpm. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation and composition techniques needed to accurately type a variety of material from written sources or voice recordings. Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Best Qualified Criteria: Applicants who possess demonstrated at least 1 year working experience in customer service to both internal and external customers, automated personnel and management systems (e.g. Defense Civilian Personnel Data Systems (DCPDS); Child & Youth Management Systems (CYMS); Time and Labor Management Systems (TLMS), etc.) to maintain accurate statistical data for planning and reporting purposes will be considered best qualified and referred first. Knowledge of formats, forms, typing policies and common terminology of the program for which the work is to be performed.
Eligible candidates who meet the Best Qualified preferred criteria will be considered best qualified and referred to the selecting official first.
